In Persepolis was Marjane's parents decision to send her to Austria the right idea
So, in the book Persepolis when Marjane's parents tell her that they've decided to send her to Austria to go to school was this the right decision. In my opinion it might've sounded like a pretty good idea at the time because of the Islamic Revolution going on at the time and they were probably thinking that she would be safe away from Iran. Later on when she's in Austria she struggles to fit in and then once she starts to fit in she starts worrying about disappointing her parents and staying true to herself.
She ends up getting into drugs just to fit in but she's still worried about what her parents would think. So did her parents make the right decision of sending her to Austria by herself, no and yes. No because Marjane forgets who she is in order to fit in but then is worried abut losing that part of her and once she leaves Iran without her parents she sort of thinks she could do anything she wants. And yes because it wasn't safe in Iran and her parents were trying to protect her in a way and also because she gets to experience a new culture and make new friends. So it pretty much depends on how you look at it. Thanks for reading!
